Liesbet Hauben

Partner

Liesbet is a partner at CAST. She joined the Bar at the start of her career and later on gained more than fifteen years of in‑house experience in the Belgian telecom and entertainment sectors, including senior roles with a telecom operator as well as a television broadcaster. She returned to private practice in 2025.


Known for her sharp analysis, strategic clarity and hands‑on approach, Liesbet advises clients across the telecom, entertainment and sports industries, combining legal precision with a strong understanding of the commercial realities that shape these sectors.

Work Highlights

  • Representing a Flemish television broadcaster in infringement proceedings before the Flemish Regulator for the Media in relation to commercial communication.


  • Assisting a Belgian company and initial rightholder in protecting their trademarks and community plant variety rights for apple varieties.


  • Negotiating broadcasting and distribution rights agreements on behalf of several Belgian broadcasting and telecom companies.


  • Assisting a Belgian architectural interior lighting company in protecting its intellectual property portfolio.


  • Negotiating sports rights agreements on behalf of a major Belgian telecom company.


  • Representing a Flemish public funding body in a dispute before the Flemish Regulator for the Media.


  • Providing legal support to several entertainment companies in their lobbying efforts on copyright legislation (federal level) and media regulation (Flemish level).


  • Working for a television broadcaster on a Court of Justice case concerning communication to the public (direct injection), against a collective management organization.


  • Assisting Belgian production companies in acquiring the necessary rights and licenses.


  • Defending multiple clients against claims concerning alleged unlawful use of content.
